Leadership and Advocacy Tools and Resources

Maybe you recently took on a leadership role within your school, district, or state association or you are a graduate student who is passionate about making your voice heard. Perhaps you've been interested in getting more involved with your state association or with NASP, or you already are serving in a leadership role and are interested in resources to expand your leadership capacity. If you have a passion for the profession and are interested in getting more involved as an advocate and/or leader, NASP has generated resources to help support you in this endeavor.
Leader Resources
The newly created Leader Resources page on the NASP website provides resources to support individuals interested in developing and engaging in leadership opportunities at the local, state, and national levels and to assist the work of individuals engaged in formal leadership positions at the state association level. Resources are specific to leadership development, leadership through advocacy, leadership through practice, and tools for state leaders.
Leader Connections Newsletter
The new Leader Connections newsletter features select resources for individuals interested in engaging in leadership opportunities at the local, state, and national levels and to assist individuals engaged in formal leadership positions at the state association level. This quarterly newsletter is distributed to members serving in a formal leadership role in NASP or with a state association and to members who have indicated an interest in leadership skills and opportunities in their NASP member profile. If you are interested in receiving more targeted leadership resources, update your NASP member profile to include an interest in Local/State/National leadership.
NASP Advocacy and Public Policy Interest Group
NASP recently approved a new interest group for members with an interest in advocacy and public policy. The Advocacy and Public Policy Interest Group is a space for promoting and supporting the local, state, and national advocacy efforts of school psychologists. Members of this group are encouraged to share ideas and resources while engaging in conversations about policy and advocacy. GPR State Training Application
The Government and Professional Relations (GPR) and Assistance to States (ATS) committees offer trainings for state associations to help improve their organizational and operational capacity and to improve school psychologists' ability to engage in grassroots professional and legislative advocacy. Trainings are customized to meet the unique needs of the state association requesting the training and can be provided virtually or face to face. These trainings are provided at little to no cost to the state association. To apply, complete a brief application.
