The most crowd-pleasing summer highball there is: a little sweet, a little spicy and exuberantly pink.

You're kidding, right?

very unhelpful, as it fails to state how to make watermelon puree.

The punch bowl version of the recipe describes the easy process: put chunks of seedless watermelon in a blender, give it a whirl, and press it through a fine-messed sieve.

Just read a Smitten Kitchen recipe that had you cut watermelon into cubes and freeze them. When a recipe calls for watermelon purée remove some cubes and throw into your blender

Just tried it. Very disappointing. Watery and lifeless.

Recommend adding a significant amount of lime for more of a bite - otherwise it’s a little plain

I made a version of this yesterday as I had just cut up a watermelon and had lots of pulp and water left. I added a healthy amount of lime juice - about 3 tablespoons - to 2 cups of purée - the tequila needs the tartness as a foil in my opinion. Instead of a pinch of salt I used about 1/2 to 3/4 tsp of the syrup from my preserved lemons - adding another hit of citrus along with a pleasant level of saltiness. Sublime.

After tasting it, I added a tablespoon of Grand Marnier to pump up the flavors, making it more like a watermelon margarita.

The first sip is meh, but it grows on you. I think a drop of simple syrup would have helped.

One of our favorite margs in the summer. Side note if you don't know how to make a puree... google it. It's easy peasy

Added a 1/4 oz of simple syrup to sweeten it a touch. Overall it was refreshing....a salt rimmed glass is a must.

How to puree? https://www.foodabovegold.com/how-to-puree-101/ it's pretty easy.

This is my method. Perfection and no tedious straining.

Muddle the jalepenos, shake it with ice instead of stirring, and add 1/2 oz lime juice. Spicy and thirst-quenching. If you don’t have a blender to make the purée, just run thick slices of watermelon over a grater and you’re ready to go.

not great. just make a watermelon margarita!

This was just ok. I used good watermelon (not great) and followed the recipe exactly. It is basically a watermelon aqua fresca with tequila.

So has anyone tried it? Is it good or no?
