Perhaps watermelon fans already know that a chilled wedge is not the only way to enjoy it. What about drinking it instead? Here, watermelon and strawberries are blended with a little sugar, lemon juice and a healthy glug of rum or vodka. Leave the spirits out if you're serving teetotalers or children. Paper umbrella optional.

A recommendation: If you have space in your freezer, freeze the cubed watermelon rather than watering-down the taste by using ice cubes.

I make strawberry and watermelon juice frequently. People love it.

I use organic strawberries and keep them unhulled and frozen as a staple. I add a few to my cold watermelon and turn on the vitamix. Simple, delicious and refreshing. No added sugar.

I agree. No added sugar. I muddled some fresh basil into the glass!

I used lime juice instead of lemon which worked for me

Had some strawberry Malibu that needed used and went perfectly

I think this recipe would be improved by the adding fresh mint or basil to the blender.

My strawberries were in the tart side and watermelon wasn’t as sweet as I’d hoped so I added simple syrup and coconut rum to sweeten.

I used White Lightning moonshine and it was excellent. Tasted like a daiquiri.

made this for a crowd so I had to quadruple the recipe and took the advice of the others and didn't use as much sugar and it was a hit. Very refreshing and delicious! Will make again.

This is also great with tequila.

Exactly my thought!
