Ingredients
- 1slice whole-wheat bread
- ¼cup low-fat milk
- 1pound ground raw turkey
- 1tablespoon grated onion
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Pinch of ground cloves
- Pinch of nutmeg
- 1tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
- 4tablespoons safflower oil
- 2½tablespoons butter
- 1teaspoon cider vinegar
- 1tablespoon water
Preparation
- Step 1
Tear the bread into pieces and place in a mixing bowl. Add milk, turkey, onion, salt and pepper to taste, cloves and nutmeg. Mix well with your hands.
- Step 2
Form the mixture into eight small patties. Make knife cuts on each patty, lengthwise and then crosswise, so they will look as if they were cooked on a grill. Sprinkle grated cheese over the patty tops.
- Step 3
Put oil in a skillet over high heat. Reduce to medium and cook burgers 4 minutes on each side.
- Step 4
Remove burgers from the skillet and set aside on a warm platter. Pour out the oil and add butter to the skillet. Melt, stirring, over medium heat. Add the vinegar and water, stirring and scraping bottom of pan.
- Step 5
Pour the sauce over the turkey burgers and serve.

These were excellent—lots of flavor. I did add extra tsp of the cider vinegar and extra tbsp water to the sauce as it was very buttery. Next time will try the yogurt/dijon sauce suggested by another commenter.
This is so good and easy- everyone loves them! I actually made the patty and this week swapped a frozen pre made patty. I cooked them the same and no one knew the difference!
These are so good and so easy on a weeknight when everyone is hungry.
Best homemade turkey burgers I've had. My changes, which worked just as well: + Swapped in almond milk and vegan parmesan + Skipped the butter-vinegar drizzle (good idea tho) + Didn't have ground cloves and nutmeg + Used sourdough instead of whole wheat bread Cooked each patty about 3-3.5 minutes per side on a cast-iron skillet at medium-low, and that worked well. Moist! 8 patties come out "slider" size, so consider 6 patties if using full-size hamburger buns.
This is our go to Turkey burger. We like ours on the barbecue with a yogurt and Dejon sauce. Delicious as written. I did use panko just to be quicker.
