Cooking Notes

This was a fantabulous beverage! Step 1) Needs to be lots of ice in that shaker. Use fresh squeezed juice, of course. I added a splash more juice because it is citrus season and grapefruit is particularly yummy. Step 2) This is cold to hang on to, so I used a stemmed Riedel Bordeaux glass with lots of ice (a la Venetian Spritz) instead of highball. Festive and practical. Ingredients are staples at our house so this will be on rotation for holidays and beyond.

Really good. I might try with another amaro next time.

This was awesome. I used a pomelo and I think it melded even better than a grapefruit!

Did not have grapefruit, so substituted half lemon and half lime instead, and it still tasted pretty good.

Couldn’t source any St Germain but used elderflower syrup to approximate. Was delicious and so perfect for a hot Aussie Christmas!

I have St Germain, but still prefer elderflower cordial in every drink. I find "bottlegreen" to be the nicest by a big margin, and i have tried loads of them.

Shaking the Aperol, Grapefruit and St. Germain with ice? If not, this is going to be a pretty warm drink...
