Ready in 10 minutes, this Mark Bittman recipe from 2013 is a perfect weeknight recipe. It relies heavily on garlic, oregano and black pepper as a coating for the shrimp. Serve alongside a hearty salad or with a stack of flatbread for an easy meal. In his original piece, a roundup of shrimp recipes, he suggested wild shrimp from the Pacific or Gulf of Mexico, or fresh local shrimp from Maine or the Carolinas, if they’re available to you. All, he wrote, are “preferable from a sustainability perspective.”

Cooking Notes

One clove of garlic for 1 1/2 pounds of shrimp? That has to be a typo. One head of garlic would be more like it.

Served this last evening for my wife's birthday. Used jumbo shrimp and grilled them - it was marvelous! This recipe is a keeper.

Instead of a garnish, I added cucumber and fresh parsley to the fresh tomatoes and feta and drizzled this with lemon juice and olive oil and served as a salad on the side.

Also served with grilled asparagus and baby bella mushrooms that I sauted with a little bacon.

Added a a baguette and a bottle of white wine, we savored the evening together!

This has become a favorite for entertaining. So little time in the kitchen. I put the shrimp in a baggie with the oil, garlic, lemon juice. oregano and pepper and leave it in the fridge until ready to cook. I cook for about 3 minutes total and don't bother to turn anymore as it's just as good. Thank you!

Quick, easy delicious. Making it in winter without good fresh tomatoes, I substituted drained canned diced tomatoes and tossed them with the shrimp and spice paste before broiling, then garnished with feta. Will make again.

Delicious and unbelievably quick. I made it as written, only with half a tablespoon of dried oregano instead of the fresh. Served hot with crusty bread and salad for dinner this evening and will throw the chilled leftovers over a Greek salad for tomorrow's lunch.

I cut the the salt in half figuring the feta was salty enough. Increased the garlic by 50% (you can't have too much can you?) I added some red pepper flakes as recommended and next time will use more. It was quite good.

You can use fish chunks, calamari, shrimp, scallops which are approximately the same size, add chopped tomatoes, capers, olives, red peppers, finely chopped shallots, onion, drizzle with more olive oil and broil. Serve with a salad, feta/romano/parm cheese, [your choice], rice, white beans, slices of lemon and crusty bread. Better one cannot buy for love or money. Into the fish rub, one can use a combo of fresh and roasted garlic.

I made this last night, and it was incredibly easy and a fairly good weeknight dinner. I think it would benefit from slightly more herbs, and maybe some red pepper flakes. Next time I will pat the shrimp dry before broiling to help make them a bit crispier.

This was a good, easy shrimp recipe. However, next time I will saute the shrimp over high heat rather than broil... I think they get more flavor that way. i served with a side of orzo tossed with evoo, chopped feta, kalamatas, parsley, & lemon zest. Fresh oregano on the shrimp is a must!! And more garlic :)

This recipe is a keeper. Served over rice that was prepared with chicken stock and mixed with crumbled feta. Really quick, easy and delicious.

very nice. I did let the feta cheese melt among the tomatoes and shrimp. I have used cherry tomatoes to make a presentation nicer. Serve with roasted broccolini . A light dinner very easy.

Made this last night, and just finished the leftovers for lunch. Yumm. I substituted a can of San Marzano whole tomatoes for Step 2, and scallops for shrimp. I also added some Kalamata Olives and zucchini and a little lemon juice at the end. Sautéed the zucchini with the shallots and garlic. I also increased the baking time by about 5 mins so the scallops (which were not completely thawed) were more fully cooked. We enjoyed it very much.

I agree with Leo that one head of garlic for 1.5 lbs of shrimp is a better ratio. Also, I broil the shrimp with chopped tomatoes and pitted olives from an olive bar and break feta over the dish after it comes out of the oven. Putting cold tomatoes and feta over the dish cools it too much.

Needs dried red pepper flakes to give it some zip. Too bland otherwise. Will make again. Nice with grilled asparagus and fruit salad for summer

Super easy and incredibly delicious. Added red pepper flakes instead of black pepper.

Delicious and easy! Make sure to use block of feta, grill bread. Smoked shrimp with cherry tomatoes on a pan in smoker, high temp for 7-10min then mixed with fresh chopped heirloom tomatoes after

I love this. Thinking I could add the tomatoes and feta at the beginning and broil it all. Serve with a baguette. We had a caprese salad with it.

Delicious and easy recipe. Only had 1lb of shrimp and increased garlic to 6 cloves and substituted 1 tsp oregano for the fresh. Also added fresh basil from garden for serving. Will definitely make this again.

Turned out pretty good. Only half the amount of shrimp, doubled the garlic, winged it on the remaining ingredients, but next time will up the oregano. Easy peasy and no major cleanup.

I was excited to try this 5 star recipe. I followed exactly and thought I made a huge error in the amount of salt. Way too salty. Couldn’t taste any other spices.

Great recipe, I'll be making it again. I did change it a little. More garlic and I added some shishito peppers to the mix. I also used cherry tomatoes that I also broiled with the shrimp and peppers.

Made this according to the recipe but put tomatoes(halved cherry tomatoes) and feta in with the shrimp. Also added haricot vert to the pan and sprinkled with red pepper flakes. Really fast and easy, especially if you can get peeled and deveined shrimp. Delicious!

I used fresh chopped tomatoes with feta, and I boiled them along with the shrimp. It brings out the juices of the tomatoes and the flavor of the feta.

Lots of flavor and the oregano really comes through nicely. Use 2 cloves garlic to ONE tspn salt, 2 T oregano, 2 T EVOO and 1 T lemon 2 next time. Twice that salt was too much. This would do for a lb of shrimp.

I made this recipe twice in one week because it was such a home run. I followed it almost to the letter the first time, except I used cherry tomatoes and put them on the sheet pan at the halfway mark so they blistered nicely. Huge hit. The second time I made it was for a very fussy relative who was coming to dinner. I used way more garlic, kept the cherry tomato idea, and added sugar snap peas to the sheet pan. I served the whole dish over orzo. Another huge hit!

We've made this for years but baked along with orzo. An easy weeknight dish.

It was fast and easy for me who is tired of cooking

This couldn't be easier! I used 6-7 cloves of garlic, and marinated the shrimp, tomatoes, a red bell pepper and half a red onion for about 30 minutes. Broiled the whole thing for about 5 minutes, then threw the feta on top and broiled another 3 minutes.

Really hard to broil 1-1/2 lb of shri.p for 1-2 min, then pull out of oven to turn all over to the other side and put back in for 1-2 min. Unless you do them individually, some don't get turned, so are not fully cooked.

Excellent. I was feeling lazy, so broiled a canful of San Marzano no-salt-added crushed tomatoes with the shrimp, and the result was luscious. Thank you!
