He says he would sign a 15-week national ban.

Former Representative Will Hurd of Texas has expressed his support for a 15-week federal ban, while suggesting that he doesn’t think passing one is politically realistic. His campaign did not respond when asked if he would support a ban earlier in pregnancy if Congress could pass one.

He acknowledges that climate change is a major threat, but what he would do is unclear.

Former Representative Will Hurd of Texas has acknowledged the gravity of climate change. In a 2021 essay on his website, he wrote that rising temperatures would worsen hurricanes, floods, wildfires and droughts; threaten water supplies; and, by reducing crop yields and restricting animal habitats, have economic consequences, such as making food more expensive.

He is the only candidate who wants to go beyond military aid by establishing a no-fly zone.

Former Representative Will Hurd of Texas — who said from the start that the United States should send Ukraine “as much weaponry as we can” — has espoused a more hawkish policy than any other major candidate, arguing that the United States should go well beyond providing equipment and weapons.

He is on the more moderate end of the G.O.P. field.

As a member of Congress, Will Hurd described a border wall as a “third-century solution to a 21st-century problem,” called the separation of migrant families “unacceptable,” and said Mr. Trump’s ban on travelers from several Muslim countries endangered the lives of Americans in the military and diplomatic corps who were serving in those places.

He is a leading voice among the field in condemning Trump.

Former Representative Will Hurd of Texas has been more scathingly critical of Mr. Trump’s behavior than any other candidate except Mr. Christie.

Unlike many G.O.P. contenders, he believes a trade relationship with China can be maintained.

Former Representative Will Hurd of Texas has said for years that the United States is in a “new cold war” with China, while emphasizing that the conflict is with the Chinese government, not the Chinese people or Chinese Americans.

He has called for reducing spending, but hasn’t given many specifics.

Former Representative Will Hurd of Texas argues that President Biden has focused too much on monetary policies, like interest rates, and too little on fiscal policies, like taxes and spending.

He has been supportive of transgender rights.

Former Representative Will Hurd of Texas has criticized other Republicans for their opposition to gay and transgender rights, including in a CNN interview in which he said he wished they would “focus their attacks on war criminals like Vladimir Putin, not my friends in the L.G.B.T.Q. community.”

He supports an investigation, but urged caution.

Former Representative Will Hurd of Texas said after Kevin McCarthy ordered an impeachment inquiry: “Joe Biden’s influence peddling as vice president to line the pockets of his son should be investigated. If President Biden is found to have violated the law, he should be impeached.”

He had some anti-union votes in the House, but said striking autoworkers were “well within their rights.”

Former Representative Will Hurd of Texas has not spoken in depth about workers’ rights or unions, though his congressional record contains some relevant votes.

He has not made his plans clear.

As a member of Congress, former Representative Will Hurd of Texas voted against raising the retirement age for Social Security and means-testing for wealthy Americans. As a candidate, however, he has not outlined specific proposals on Social Security and Medicare, and his campaign did not respond to questions.
