What Is APAGS Doing for You?

About Graduate Student Funding

Funding for graduate school is a serious issue — with psychology debt loads ranging from $40,000 to $200,000. APA mechanisms for funding students include scholarships, grants, and free Convention registration for student presenters. APAGS continues to engage in advocacy for graduate student funding.

About the Internship Crisis

In 2012, a total of 22 percent of all students in the APPIC internship match were not placed at an internship after rounds I and II. This result is unacceptable. APAGS has consistently engaged in a number of actions to address the internship issue, which we consider to be a crisis.

About LGBT Students

APAGS strongly advocates for its lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender constituents through its subcommittee, the APAGS Committee on Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity (CSOGD).

About High Quality Education

APAGS is committed to ensuring that all prospective and current psychology graduate students are equipped with knowledge about common rights and sensible expectations to hold for the training programs in which we enroll and dedicate our time. We promote the highest quality graduate training experience for our generation.
