People in the US: how do you stay cool in extreme heat?

We want to hear from people about how they’re affected by soaring temperatures and the creative ways they stay cool

Americans are bracing for another sweltering summer, with millions currently under heat advisories.

Heat is the deadliest weather phenomenon, with the US recording about 11,000 heat-related deaths and 120,000 emergency room visits last year. As temperatures soar, air conditioning and electrical grids can’t always keep up.

Increasingly people are turning to clever hacks to stay cool, from planting trees, to installing outdoor showers or placing a bowl of ice in front of a fan.

We’d love to hear about how you’re affected by extreme heat and clever ways you stay cool.
