Syracuse, N.Y. —The Syracuse University women’s lacrosse team has picked up a transfer from the Rochester area.

Ava Peers of Fairport, N.Y., who spent her freshman season at the University of Louisville as a midfielder, will transfer to Syracuse for the 2025 season. Peers’ high school coach, Mara Karpp, confirmed the transfer to syracuse.com.

Peers scored five points (3g, 2a) for the Cardinals in her freshman season. She also took seven draw controls for Louisville last season.

Peers was a three-time, first-team midfielder (2021-23) in Monroe County and was named to the 2023 D&C All-Greater Rochester Super 16.

Peers led Fairport to its first ever Class A State Championship with a double-overtime victory over Massapequa in 2023. Peers collected 150 career draw controls, 75 goals, 100 ground balls, 35 takes and 25 assists during her high school career.

Peers comes from an athletic family.

Her younger sister, Ella, is also a Fairport standout. She is a five-star attack committed to play for Syracuse in the Class of 2025.

Ella and Ava’s father, Matt Peers, played lacrosse at SUNY Cortland while their mother, Lisa, played soccer at Cortland.
