Syracuse, N.Y. —The all-time leading scorer in Syracuse Crunch history is moving on.
Alex Barré-Boulet has signed a one-year, one-way contract with the Montreal Canadiens, signaling an end to his time with the Tampa Bay Lightning organization where he has spent the bulk of his entire professional career along with a short stint with the Seattle Kraken.
Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reported the one-year deal with Montreal is worth $775,000.
Barré-Boulet, 27, tallied six goals and three assists in 36 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning last season. He also registered 19 points (4G, 15A) in 23 games with the Crunch.
Barré-Boulet scored 302 career points for the Crunch, the most in franchise history. He also netted 22 career playoff points for Syraciuse (6 goals, 16 assists).
Barré-Boulet has also played in 68 NHL games with the Lightning, contributing 18 points.
He signed as an unrestricted free agent with the Tampa Bay Lightning in March of 2018 after going undrafted, eventually winning the Red Garrett Memorial Award as the AHL Rookie of the Year for the 2018-19 season. Barré-Boulet was a two-time All-Star (2020, 2023) for the Crunch.
The Crunch recently completed its 30th anniversary season, losing to the Cleveland Monsters in the North Division Finals of the AHL’s Calder Cup Playoffs.
