Cary G Overall a decent series. Here’s what I find most distracting: Jake Gyllenhaal’s first. It seems that subtlety is not in his repertoire. He has a tendency to punctuate every line of dialogue. Someone should have found the courage to tell him to rein it in. The 1990 movie was trashed at the time, but Ford was fine and it featured surprisingly memorable performances from a lot of actors (Raul Julia, Bonnie Bedelia, Brian Dennehy, John Spencer - maybe Greta Scacchi's best work). So try to imagine the development meeting that greenlit this TV remake: AppleTV: "Hey - Gyllenhaal needs a vehicle, what about that 80s Chicago DA thing where everyone criticized Harrison Ford's haircut?" Producer: "Brilliant! We can miscast all the other roles too, and hire cheap script-writers to dumb-it-down and jettison the nuance and philosophical point-of-view. It will be great!"
