I write about theater, film, TV, music, visual art, pop culture, parties and nightlife. I also take you behind the scenes of some of our most important and well-read stories for the Times Insider section. In my day job, I’m on the Flexible Editing desk, working on articles from across the newsroom.
I grew up in Brownsburg, Ind., a suburb of Indianapolis. I started my career as an arts reporter and digital producer for The Indianapolis Star, where I interviewed a sex doctor from Indiana University’s Kinsey Institute, learned how to unclog a toilet in 12 seconds and profiled a 35-pound cat. I joined The Times as a reporting fellow for the Culture desk in 2020. Since then, I’ve written more than 550 stories for 13 desks, including breaking the story of a racially insensitive job posting that led to the resignation of the Indianapolis Museum of Art’s chief executive, publishing the first assessment of damage to the art at the U.S. Capitol after the Jan. 6 attack and spending two months investigating diversity in New York City’s cultural institutions. I’ve won awards for my reporting from the New York Press Club and the Los Angeles Press Club.
Like all Times journalists, I am committed to upholding the standards of integrity outlined in our Ethical Journalism Handbook. I do not allow anyone I write about to review stories or approve quotes before publication, and I never pay for interviews.
