There might be a summer VP debate coming to CBS: The Biden campaign has accepted, but there’s no word from the Trump campaign yet. Any debate would come after the Republican National Convention, where a GOP VP nominee would be made official.

In a new video, the president challenged Trump to two debates. “Now he’s acting like he wants to debate me again, well, make my day, pal,” Biden said. A letter from his campaign was more particular: The campaign rejected proposed debates from the Commission on Presidential Debates as being too far out and proposed a one-on-one format staged inside a TV studio with no audience and microphones that cut off if a speaker goes over time.

The president told Howard Stern he’s planning on debating his predecessor. The path here is still uncertain at best: Trump has spent years attacking the debate commission and, more recently, has pushed for more debates, starting soon.

Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen endorsed growing calls on the right for his state to stop splitting its electoral college votes, which resulted in one vote going to President Joe Biden in 2020. The bill would have to quickly move through the state legislature to become law before this year’s election.

The former New Jersey governor and presidential candidate has officially ruled out a run on the No Labels presidential ticket, saying he didn’t believe there was a path to victory. He joins a long list of politicians who have turned No Labels down.

This time, in Alabama: Marilyn Lands easily won a special election Tuesday night for a state House seat after running on abortion and IVF access. Republicans have a trifecta in the state, controlling the governor’s office and both chambers of the legislature.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. named 38-year-old Oakland-native multimillionaire lawyer Nicole Shanahan as his running mate, citing her ties to the tech world and youth, among other traits. Shanahan, who is the ex-wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, is a tech lawyer, entrepreneur and investor, who recently donated $4 million to a RFK Jr.-aligned PAC.

Trump-endorsed Bernie Moreno won the Republican Senate primary in Ohio Tuesday night, bucking the Republican establishment’s pick. Democrats saw Moreno as a best-case scenario for incumbent Sherrod Brown, tapping Moreno as the weaker general election candidate.

Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Kansas and Ohio are holding presidential primaries on Tuesday, and we can all guess who will win. (One exception: Florida is not holding a Democratic presidential primary and is awarding its delegates to President Joe Biden.) However, there will still be races to watch, including the Ohio Republican primary for Senate and California’s special election to replace Kevin McCarthy.

Rep. Lauren Boebert does not plan to resign and run in a special election to replace Rep. Ken Buck. His early retirement put her in an odd spot: She’s aiming to take over his district, but running in the special election would mean her current seat could go to a Democrat. When asked whether he thought about how his decision would affect Boebert, Buck told NOTUS’ Haley Byrd Wilt: “No, I didn’t consider that.”

The third-party organization convened delegates today to vote on whether it should continue down the path of fielding a presidential ticket. Delegates agreed to do so, but there is still little clarity on what that ticket would look like. No Labels said in a statement that they’ll outline that process on March 14.

The Republican presidential primary is on track to end the morning after Super Tuesday, where Trump won every state except for Vermont. Haley is due to give a speech at 10 a.m., where multiple outlets report she will drop out but not (at least for now) endorse Trump.

The expected Republican and Democratic nominees have so far tonight both won nominating contests in (according to the AP): Maine, Oklahoma, Tennessee, North Carolina and Virginia. No surprises yet, at least.

Both Donald Trump and Joe Biden are going to win a lot of states tonight. Biden, the incumbent, is running with barely any opposition, and Trump, the pseudo-incumbent, essentially locked up his party’s nomination weeks ago. But Virginia being low drama for Trump shows just how far ahead he is in his race with Nikki Haley.

Some of the states to vote today are beginning to show results. Not exactly a surprise, but one early AP projection of note: Joe Biden has finally won an Iowa Democratic caucus, after decades of trying.

Ahead of Super Tuesday, Nikki Haley notched her first primary win in Washington, D.C., on Sunday. Trump said on Truth Social he “purposely stayed away from the D.C. Vote because it is the ‘Swamp,’” and won the Michigan, Missouri and Idaho caucuses over the weekend.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski endorsed Haley for president, saying in a statement, “America needs someone with the right values, vigor and judgment” to be the next president. Haley has not yet won a state GOP primary, and might not before Trump wraps up the nomination. Murkowski is one of the few remaining Republican senators who voted to convict Trump in his 2021 impeachment trial.

Even though Biden and Trump both easily won their respective primaries in Michigan last night, their campaigns have some cause for concern. Biden’s might be the noisiest, with more than 100,000 votes going to “uncommitted.” But Trump lost even more votes to Nikki Haley, showing the potential limits of his support.

No surprises in the toplines of the Michigan primaries: Biden and Trump both won, the AP projected right as the final polls closed. But there’s still drama on the Democratic side, where the “uncommitted” vote is exceeding organizers’ public expectations with the count still underway.

President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump both plan to visit the southern border in Texas on Thursday. Biden plans to discuss the need for border legislation in Brownsville, while Trump will hammer Biden on his immigration policy in Eagle Pass, a key site in the fight between Texas and the feds on border policy. The Trump campaign called Biden’s trip an “Attempt to Chase President Trump to the Southern Border.”

In light of the Alabama Supreme Court ruling that frozen embryos are “children” and those who destroy them could be held liable — a decision that has already paused fertility treatments in parts of the state — Haley would not commit to a stance on in vitro fertilization. “Embryos, to me, are babies,” she told NBC News ahead of the South Carolina Republican primary. “I think we have to have those conversations,” Haley continued when asked about the effect such a ruling could have on fertility treatments.

Nikki Haley said she’s sticking with her presidential bid during a speech in South Carolina, where she’s expected to lose the GOP primary on Saturday. “I have no fear of Trump’s retribution,” she said. Meanwhile, the Trump campaign released a memo with its case for why Haley should drop out, framing her as a “wailing loser hell-bent on an alternative reality and refusing to come to grips with her imminent political mortality.”

After flirting with a third-party run for president, Sen. Joe Manchin said he won’t make a bid this year. “I will not be seeking a third-party run. I will not be involved in a presidential run,” he said at an event in West Virginia.

Although Joe Manchin hasn’t said he’s running for president, he offered some ideas of who he might pick as a running mate. “I’d ask Mitt Romney. Maybe Rob Portman,” he said at an event in Ohio after a question from the moderator. The suspense of whether Manchin will make a third-party bid should be over soon: “Super Tuesday pretty much would be a deadline that tells you where you are,” he said.
