Please visit velosano.org/donate to make an online donation. Whether you want to make a general donation to lifesaving cancer research at Cleveland Clinic or support a participant in Bike to Cure or Trike & Bike, you can donate online in a variety of ways. If you would like the donation to be credited to a Participant/Fundraising page, please provide their name at the time of the donation. If they are not already registered, their donation will be credited to their page upon registration.

Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) are very effective charitable giving vehicles whereby donors set aside money to be granted to charitable organizations.

When processing a DAF grant through a charitable giving account, please use the following information:

• Our IRS tax identification number: 34-0714585
• Our legal name: The Cleveland Clinic Foundation
• Designation: VeloSano and include any relevant Participant Name/Team

CCF typically receives DAF grant checks within two weeks and credits a rider’s fundraising immediately upon receipt.

Please email our Gift Accounting Team at [email protected] copying your Cleveland Clinic Philanthropy Institute contact (if applicable) in order to receive our Wire/ACH or stock instructions to securely send your donation.
Please also be sure to include your gift designation to VeloSano and any relevant Participant Name/Team in the email. The reply email will show as Cleveland Clinic Philanthropy.

Requirements of a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

• You must be 70 ½ or older
• You may make a gift of up to $100,000
• The distribution must be made directly to a qualified charity such as Cleveland Clinic
• Your gift must be outright (tax-free rollovers to a life-income gift such as a charitable gift annuity or a charitable remainder trust do not qualify)

This Will Benefit You

• If you are taking required distributions from your IRA, because the charitable distribution counts toward the minimum requirement
• If you usually contribute (up to half of your adjusted gross income) to charity
• If you do not need the income from your IRA, or if the income will substantially increase your taxed income
• Whether you itemize or take the standard deduction

• Make pledge payments with a QCD (no out-of-pocket expense)
• Fulfill your pledge sooner than anticipated
• QCDs can open opportunities for additional charitable gifts

Remember, you have not paid taxes on your IRA contribution, and now you will not have to pay federal income taxes on the distribution to charity. 

Note: A QCD does not qualify for a charitable deduction.
