"Living Hope"

On August 25, 2018, after a week of struggling with a open sore on my foot from what we thought was an insect bite, my primary care physician told me to admit myself to Fairview Hospital. It was there in the Emergency Room that my wife Bridget and I first heard the word LEUKEMIA from an oncologist and the ER Doctor. After being rushed to the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus I was admitted to the Leukemia Wing where I began extensive chemotherapy, lumbar punctures and other treatments. My brother Mark turned out to be a very good match as a bone marrow donor and I received a bone marrow transplant in December and began a long road of recovery. Things are very positive at this point and I plan to continue down the path of remission. I have been able to start back to work and have begun to get back to my normal routine. In an effort to support the Cleveland Clinic in making more remarkable advancements in cancer treatment, I have decided to participate in VeloSano this year. I am committing to ride 25 miles, which considering I can barely climb a flight of stairs at the moment, will be a challenge. But hey, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
