"Living Hope"

My cancer journey began in November 2016 with a random, unrelated pain. I saw a new doctor who noticed an odd test result from the year before, when I was pregnant with my daughter. After further testing I was diagnosed with Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma, a very rare vascular sarcoma that has presented itself in my liver. EHE is so rare that most doctors have never heard of it and there are not many well-known, effective treatments. This type of cancer has the potential to remain stable for decades or can become aggressive without much warning. Since my diagnosis I have chosen to take a “watch and wait” approach and as a precautionary measure was listed for a liver transplant in May 2017. Thankfully the cancer has remained stable!

So, why do I ride? HOPE. For me, hope is empowering, uplifting, and gives me strength. I find hope in VELOSANO. Hope for better understanding of this disease, new treatment options and break through discoveries. I am so grateful for my medical team at the Cleveland Clinic, the strides being made in rare cancer research and for all those who support this wonderful organization. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for giving me hope!
