Mycorrhizal (A Long Story VIII) as part of Nuit Blanche 2023,

The Gladstone House, Toronto
‘Mycorrhizal’ draws reference to mutualistic associations between plants and fungi. It considers our inherent interconnection to each other and thirst for communion with the more-than-human-natural world. Themes of individual and collective renewal are woven through: ideas of regeneration processed through a compilation of entangled, interconnected paths. Dried phragmites (harvested by botanical artist Graham Teeple before the inflorescence opened for pollination to avoid spreading viable seeds of this introduced species) are incorporated here, reflecting the existing Ontario landscape and contemplating the symbolic and material effects on local ecosystems.
