A few years ago, there was a real battle for supremacy over chicken sandwiches. Fast food and fast casual restaurants everywhere scrambled to one up each other when Popeyes introduced its sandwich, then the snowball grew until every company had to make their own.
In June 2024, CouponBirds surveyed 2,000 adults on their favorite brands, flavors, eating and spending habits, and loyalty when it comes to chicken sandwiches to see which ones came out on top after the war.
So what was the result? It turns out, most states are quite basic in their preferences, which is super disappointing — but expected.
Key findings:
-
People can't get enough of that Chick-fil-A sandwich, which had 53 percent of respondents saying it's their favorite. About six out of ten people said they're somewhat loyal to their favorite brand, because people hate change.
-
The states that eat the most are Florida and Texas, which makes sense because those are third and second most populated states, respectively, and have a ton of fast food options — including my favorite, Zaxby's.
-
The two most popular flavors are classic and spicy, although I wouldn't necessarily consider putting honey mustard or BBQ sauce on a sandwich to be a unique "flavor" — this survey did, and combined seven percent disagree with me.
-
A whopping 43 percent of people say they eat a fast food chicken sandwich monthly, which should send a shiver down every nutritionist's spine
