Sherlock fans got a surprise sneak peak at the new special on Thursday at midnight, when the BBC tweeted out a new photo of the logical detective and his long-suffering assistant Dr Watson.
Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are set to resume their roles as the dynamic duo, Sherlock Holmes and Dr John Watson, for a one-off "special" episode. The BBC still hasn't revealed a date, but it's expected it will broadcast at Christmas in the UK.
Shut up everybody, shut up! Don't move, don't speak, don't breathe. A new #Sherlock Special image has landed... pic.twitter.com/ZoCX8P4S9S— BBC One (@BBCOne) July 8, 2015
The still confirms the episode will be set in the Victorian era, which we first learnt in March when a photo of Sherlock, complete with top hat, was released.
Speaking earlier in the year, show co-creator Steven Moffat said the one-off special would be an historical adventure that stood alone from the rest of the series.
"The special is its own thing. We wouldn't have done the story we're doing, and the way we're doing it, if we didn't have this special," he said.
"It's not part of the run of three episodes. So we had this to do it - as we could hardly conceal - it's Victorian."
But while fans were pleased to see the new promo photo, it was the duo's hair that seemed to preoccupy a lot of the conversation.

It's nice to see that Martin Freeman is borrowing Tom Selleck's mustache for the new Sherlock special.— Matt Carter (@MattCarterMedia) July 8, 2015
