Governor says president is not above law

PRESIDENTIAL RACE. IN NOVEMBER. DONALD TRUMP IS ONCE AGAIN THE PRESUMPTIVE PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. IT’S AN OUTCOME. GOVERNOR CHRIS SUNUNU FOUGHT HARD TO AVOID. PRIMARY CAMPAIGNS ARE TOUGH, BUT IS IT SAFE TO SAY YOU WILL BE AN ENTHUSIASTIC SUPPORTER OF DONALD TRUMP? COME NOVEMBER? I’M GOING TO SUPPORT. I’M GOING TO SUPPORT THE TICKET. I’M GOING TO SUPPORT DONALD TRUMP. BUT MY FOCUS IS DEFINITELY GOING TO BE HERE IN THE STATE. WE REPEATEDLY CALLED HIM A LOSER. YOU KNOW, RECENTLY YOU COMPARED HIM TO HE LOST HIS RACES, YOU KNOW, FRUSTRATING. YOU MADE FUN OF HIS AGE ON PRIMARY DAY ON TWITTER. YOU RECENTLY SAID HE’S PROBABLY TOO OLD FOR THE JOB. LOOK, I DON’T TAKE ANY OF THAT BACK, TO BE SURE. BUT AGAIN, UNDERSTAND THIS IS AN ALTERNATIVE. I MEAN, THE ALTERNATIVE IS BIDEN. AND I THINK WHERE FOLKS ARE SEEING A LACK OF MANAGEMENT, A LACK OF UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT’S HAPPENING WITH IMMIGRATION, A LACK OF FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY. WHILE SUNUNU SAYS HE’LL BE SUPPORTING THE REPUBLICAN TICKET, HE WON’T BE SIDING WITH TRUMP ON SOME KEY ISSUES. DO YOU AGREE WITH THE FORMER PRESIDENT AND HIS LEGAL TEAM THAT THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT HAS COMPLETE LEGAL IMMUNITY FROM ALL PROSECUTIONS? NO, NO. THAT’S CRAZY. NO. THE A JUST BECAUSE YOU’RE A POLITICIAN DOES NOT PUT YOU ABOVE THE LAW. PERIOD. AND SO IF AN AMERICAN PRESIDENT HAD ABSOLUTE IMMUNITY, THAT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING YOU WOULD USUALLY DO IN THIS COUNTRY. CORRECT? I’VE NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING LIKE THAT. NO, NO, WE SHOULD BE SUPPORTING ANYTHING. WHAT IF HE ACTS IN THAT WAY? IF HE’S REELECTED, YOU GOT TO HOLD HIM TO THE LETTER TO THE LAW, RIGHT? THAT’S WHY YOU HAVE ATTORNEY GENERALS IN CONGRESS. AND, YOU KNOW, YOU HAVE A PROCESS FOR THAT. IF TRUMP WINS BACK THE WHITE HOUSE AND WANTS HELP LAYING TRANSITION GROUNDWORK FOR HIS PROPOSED MASS DEPORTATION PROGRAM, THE GOVERNOR SAYS HE SHOULDN’T BOTHER CALLING HIM. IF THEY COME TO YOU WITH THAT REQUEST, YOU’RE INCLINED NOT TO LOOK. I I’M ON MY WAY OUT. I’LL LET THE NEXT GOVERNOR WORRY ABOUT THAT KIND OF INSANITY. I’VE HANDLED EIGHT YEARS OF THAT KIND OF CRAZY, AND I’M EXCITED IN TER
