It seems as though some followers are getting confused because of her name. As her first name is Camila and her last name is Mendes, some people think that her Twitter page is actually a fan account shipping former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes. Yep, you read that right.
Dating rumors have swirled around the "I Know What You Did Last Summer" singers for a long time, despite the fact that both Camila and Shawn have spoken out to declare that they are just friends. Nevertheless, the shippers persist, looking for any possible sign of romance, which apparently includes the Riverdale actress's Twitter.
Camila took to social media today to set the record straight about her account. "Just a Camila Mendes standing in front of the Twitterverse asking it to stop thinking she’s a fan account for Camila Cabello & Shawn Mendes," she wrote last night. An iconic tweet that will undoubtedly go down in social media history. Hopefully that will keep the stans at bay...at least, for a little while.
