Course Profile

Being an Active Bystander in the Workplace is an online course self-led course for all professionals working in the arts and creative sectors.

This course in collaboration with Safe to Create, is designed to empower people to challenge unacceptable behaviour that may have become normalised in the arts and creative sectors. The course aims to explain the role of an active bystander, identify forms of inappropriate behavior, demonstrate how to be an active bystander safely and the positive effect this can have in the workplace.

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • Explain the role on an active bystander and why it is important
  • Identify all forms of inappropriate behavior
  • Demonstrate how to be an active bystander with an understanding of the breadth of possible intervention strategies
  • Recognise how being an active bystander can influence and affect a positive workplace culture
  • Recognise the importance of only intervening when it is safe to do so

Participant Profile

This course is suitable for all professionals working in the arts and creative sectors and is also available through Irish, Polish and Brazilian Portuguese.
