Our story

How we got our start
littleBits was my experiment to make engineering more fun, more playful, and more inviting to people who aren’t engineers. I took it to Maker Faire in 2009, and suddenly people started lining up to play with the Bits. I realized there was a real opportunity to inspire kids to invent with technology.
What makes our product unique
littleBits invented the electronic building block! Our magnetic “Bits” snap together to turn ideas into inventions, transforming the way kids learn so they can grow up to be tomorrow’s changemakers no matter their age, gender, race, nationality, or ability.
Why we love what we do
I'm inspired by all our makers. We have a young girl in our community who is teaching herself to code and prototype an echo-locator device with littleBits. Others have made pet activity monitors or autonomous driving robots. The creativity and inventive spirit of kids using our Bits blows me away.

What's in the box

  • 7 Bits, 2 template inserts. Instructions for 8 inventions [5 in booklet, 3 online] and 1 challenge. IIntegrated app experience. Comes with all the accessories you need to connect to the world around you.
  • Product guides and documents

This kit is wonderful! It's like Snap Circuits, only they're actually making something to use - and the projects in this idea book were very appealing for my 10-year-old. I love that it encourages him to use foil, tape, and other materials around our house. This is one STEM kit that truly encourages kids to use the components as a starting point. I really hope the components are sturdy, because my son already wants to bring his inventions everywhere. 🙃 Note that I got mine on an amazing Black Friday special. At the price I paid, I'm happy to let my son experiment with these as he wishes. If I'd paid the list price, I'm not sure I'd have the same level of courage. I'm very glad, though, that the Black Friday sale offered me this introduction to the Little Bits world.

My daughter was beyond excited to find that this particular littleBits kit (she has several) came with a Makey-Makey component. The activities in the book are thorough and exciting to follow, but the components in this kit are the most useful we've received for further experimenting. She is 8 yrs old, 3rd grade and can follow the instructions AND experiment on her own.

I bought this for my nephew is has always been an artsy, creative kid. I did A LOT of research on other products in the STEAM field prior to purchase. In the end I chose Little Bits in part because i liked their large community who put projects on their website. It's been a total hit. The modules snap with magnets so it's super super easy to connect the electronics. He immediately make the "Defend your Domain" project to protect his room, and within the hour he had taken it apart and was modifying it to make a project of his own.
Big big hit! I was a hero and i feel good that i didn't get him junk that he would discard after one day of playing(and now i know i can keep buying him separate pieces anytime i need to get him a gift! - I'm so smart)

Bought this a while back and it still has some good replay value, especially for some at-home science/ tech activities this year. I have always gravitated towards toys that teach kids the value of failure and experimenting for solutions. I'll admit that this product doesn't work as well as when I first bought it, but for the amount I paid for it, the experiments done with it, and the lessons gained from it, I still think this toy was worth the price.

My daughter was clicking the pieces together meaningfully and looking through the manual to get up to speed on what the components do within fifteen minutes of opening the package. I was amazed at how quickly she took to it, despite never having played with an electronics kit before. This kit should set the stage for turning her loose on my old Radio Shack spring-terminal-and-breadboard kit. The modular design really works well; it's probably comparable to SnapCircuits, but slightly more refined and intended for a slightly older kid. I am very impressed with the littleBits system based on this set.

I bought this for my 10 year old Grandson who lives across the country. I get regular videos of him with his latest creation! I love that he has so many options for invention, even with this base kit. But I can see that I'll need to support his inventing habit with more kits, which is fine by me! So much better for him than video games, etc. And he enjoys it so much more!
