Mr.
I have two Filtron systems, the original I got when my parents passed away and a newer one I bought several years ago. I make two batches at one time. I discovered a better way then the paper coffee filters or no paper filter. I use cheesecloth, double ply, and put the coffee grounds inside and use plastic tie to close it. After 12 hours I pull the plug and all the syrup comes out in about 2 minutes. No coffee grounds to clog the thick bottom filter. Works like a charm. I buy it by the roll.

Indestructible
I bought my Filtron when I moved out of my parents house in 1973. I started drinking cold water drip coffee at the age of 9 (yep I'm from New Orleans). My Filtron has been in continuous use for over 40 years. It has a few scratches and is discolored where the coffee soaks. I have grave concerns that it will be fairly beat up by the time my grand children inherit it from my daughter (who hopefully won't get it for at least 20 years)

Ms.
I have used this system for 42 years now and just love it. The ease of having the syrup in my fridge, always ready for a quick cup, as well as the smooth, rich taste sold me. My doctor told me it was as healthy as you could get a cup of coffee!

Hard working mother
Have used this coffee concentrate for over 20 yrs. Its aroma and flavor is grand. very smooth and as rich or mild as you like it. Never harsh to the stomach. Our guests love it as much as we do.

The Man!
I have the Original Filtron and am enjoying the brew very much. When I first started using it I was taken back by the lack of tech in the system. It's more a coffee soaker. But that aside the end result is one heck of a good, pure tasting cup of Joe. I highly recommend the Filtron to anybody who enjoys a good cup of coffee. And to those buying a $5.00 cup at Starbucks, this will save you a boatload of cash!

Questions and Answers

Q: How much coffee grounds do you use at a time? 5lbs can?
Asked by: Margo - 1/18/2020
A: 1 pound is the max, and is the most efficient, but you can use less. If you use 12oz (the most frequent size at the grocery store), there's a line for how much water to add to match it. We buy bigger amounts at Costco, usually grinding in the store on the way out. I put the Filtron on a kitchen scale, turn it on and zero it, and add coffee until I get to a pound. Easy peasy.

Q: How many ounces of concentrate does 1 lb of coffee make & what is the typical dilution ratio for a hot cup of coffee ?
Asked by: Little Mom - 10/24/2020
A: 1 lb. makes about 32 oz.; dilution ratio depends how strong you like your coffee and what roast of coffee you use. That is the great thing: you can use less or more. Our original system had a 2 tbs scoop included; 2 scoops/4 tbs makes a med/strong 12 oz cup of coffee. Also-after first soak/drain, set up again with same grounds using half as much water and let sit for another 24 hrs to extend your grounds. This syrup will be less thick/strong so use more or mix in with first batch for an even batch.

Q: I have an original Filtron and finally need a new one. How many ounces of coffee can I drip at one time?
Asked by: Barbara - 4/1/2021
A: Using 12 oz of ground coffee, I add 56 oz of water. That yields about 40 oz of coffee at the other end.
