Cristiano Ronaldo is in the Portugal squad on merit not reputation, manager Roberto Martinez says, as they start their bid to win Euro 2024 on Tuesday.
Portugal are among the tournament favourites due to the vast array of talents at Martinez’s disposal in just about every position.
Ronaldo, due to play in a record sixth Euros, is expected to be named in the XI for their Group F opener against Czech Republic.
