Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles will miss between six and nine months of action after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
Lascelles, 30, picked up the injury in the 17th minute of Newcastle’s 4-3 Premier League victory over West Ham United on Saturday — in which he was replaced by Emil Krafth.
Newcastle confirmed in a club statement on Sunday that the central defender had seen a specialist consultant, who has confirmed he sustained an ACL injury and is expected to undergo surgery next week.
