Brighton forward Julio Enciso will not play in the Olympic football tournament for Paraguay.

The 20-year-old represents his country at Copa America against Colombia in their opening game in group D on Monday evening (11pm UK).

Paraguay squad members at Copa America will not also be involved in the Olympics competition in Paris.

Enciso’s Brighton team-mates Valentin Barco and Facundo Buonanotte could, however, be selected by Argentina.

Barco helped Argentina to qualify for the Olympics tournament at the beginning of 2024 before the 19-year-old left-back linked up with Brighton from Boca Juniors.
The Olympics football starts on July 24 and finishes on August 10.

Brighton’s first Premier League fixture of 2024-25 under new head coach Fabian Hurzeler is at Everton on August 17.
