Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood is the subject of strong interest from Lazio among a number of clubs as speculation continues over his future.

Greenwood, 22, spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Spanish club Getafe, going on to make 36 appearances across all competitions, scoring 10 goals.

All options remain open for Greenwood with United’s preference a permanent sale although another loan or even a return to training with the club are not being ruled out.

Lazio are one of several clubs interested with Juventus, Napolias reported by The Athletic in May — and others in Germany, Spain and Portugal monitoring his situation.

It remains to be seen what United’s valuation of Greenwood is with Lazio’s record signing in the 20 years of Claudio Lotito’s ownership being Vedat Muriqi’s arrival from Fenerbahce for €21m in 2020.

Getafe are also interested in Greenwood returning to them on another season-long loan.

Greenwood was made available for transfer after United confirmed in August last year that they had abandoned their plan to bring the forward back into the first-team squad.

It had been decided that Greenwood would resume his career away from Old Trafford after the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service discontinued the case against him for attempted rape, assault, and coercive control after key witnesses withdrew their cooperation. Greenwood denied all the allegations against him.

His current United contract expires in June 2025 and includes a one-year extension option that can be activated should the club decide to do so.
