Iga Swiatek has withdrawn from the Ecotrans Ladies Open in Berlin, citing “overall physical and mental fatigue after an intense nine weeks.”

The grass-court tournament, which begins on June 15, posted the statement from the world No 1 on X, in the wake of her winning her third French Open title in three years against Jasmine Paolini in Paris on Saturday.

Swiatek said that she needs to withdraw “in order to rest and recover,” having played four tournaments — winning three in Madrid, Rome, and Paris, and reaching the semifinal in Stuttgart — in that period.

She is not on the entry list for the Bad Homburg Open in Hamburg, which begins on 23 June and at which she reached the semifinal last year before withdrawing with suspected food poisoning. This raises the possibility that she will not play any competitive tennis on grass before Wimbledon begins on July 1.

She reached the quarterfinals at the All England Club last year, losing to Elina Svitolina, and said after the French Open that she was happy with her progress on grass in her career so far.
