Chelsea’s Under-23 head coach Mark Robinson has been appointed at Burton Albion.

Burton Albion parted company with manager Martin Paterson, who had been appointed on a short-term deal in January, despite maintaining their League One status.

Robinson has been in his role at Chelsea over the past two seasons, having previously spent 14 months as manager of AFC Wimbledon.

He initially joined AFC Wimbledon in 2004, two years after the club’s formation, and worked in a variety of roles including as head of the club’s academy and youth-team coach before overseeing 68 matches in charge of the senior side.

At Chelsea, Robinson oversaw the development of future first-team players Alfie Gilchrist, Lewis Hall, Omari Hutchinson and Mason Burstow.

Burton Albion’s five-year stint in League One will continue after avoiding relegation to League Two on the final day of the season. The club have been in the top three divisions of English football since 2015.
