Kevin De Bruyne’s camp had one conversation with new MLS side San Diego FC, as the Southern California city is a place De Bruyne would consider if he were to play Stateside, sources briefed on the situation told The Athletic. But so far that is the extent of the dealings between the two parties. Any suggestion of a move for Kevin de Bruyne to MLS side San Diego FC being imminent is wide of the mark, those sources said.

Currently, De Bruyne’s contract is set to expire next summer. He had planned to sign another deal and then quite possibly retire at City around the age of 35, The Athletic’s Sam Lee reported in February.
De Bruyne has been a target for clubs in Saudi Arabia, namely Al-Hilal, and will continue to be a target this summer and beyond. Typically big stars like De Bruyne are often linked with Los Angeles (LA Galaxy or LAFC), as well Inter Miami. And another City Football Group club plays in MLS, NYCFC. But San Diego’s arrival in MLS next season adds another desirable location to the mix.
The Belgian just wrapped up another title-winning campaign with Manchester City, their fourth consecutive. He’s won six league titles in total with City during his legendary run at the club, as well as City’s first-ever Champions League triumph.
De Bruyne, turning 33 this summer, is among the best midfielders of his generation. He had another excellent season, though interrupted by injury. He still had six goals and 18 assists in 1,694 minutes.
