Former Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare is receiving treatment after recently being diagnosed with cancer.
The Championship club confirmed the 59-year-old’s diagnosis in a statement which read: “Craig is very grateful for the kind well-wishes he has been receiving and for the privacy that he and his family have been shown during this challenging time.”

Leicester’s chief executive Susan Whelan also issued a statement, sending well wishes to Shakespeare and his family. She said: “Everyone at the club sends their strength and support to Craig, his wife Karen and their children Elle and Jed.
“They will all be in our thoughts and prayers as Craig progresses with his treatment, surrounded by the love befitting his place in the hearts of the Leicester City family and the wider game.”
Shakespeare has had several spells at Leicester, first as an assistant manager between 2008 and 2010 and then again between 2011 and 2017.
After Claudio Ranieri’s departure from the club, he was named caretaker manager in February 2017, before being given the permanent role a month later.
Shakespeare became the club’s assistant manager for a third time earlier this year, joining Dean Smith’s coaching staff in April until the end of last season.
Shakespeare has also spent time on the coaching staff at Aston Villa, Everton, Norwich City and Watford.
