What is Matip’s injury and what did Klopp say?

Matip was forced from the field at half-time during Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Fulham on Sunday with a back spasm.

On Tuesday during a pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp said he “doesn’t know yet” when the defender will be available for selection.

“The physios worked pretty much 24 hours on him, so we will see. Today we have another session and then we will see,” said Klopp.

And what did Parker say about Mitrovic?

On Tuesday afternoon, Parker confirmed Mitrovic has returned to full fitness and is back with the squad. The Serbian forward took part in training over the last two days.

Are there any other notable returnees?

Steve Bruce has a significant injury boost, as Ryan Fraser and Federico Fernandez return to the fold for Wednesday’s trip to Elland Road.

Bruce said Fraser’s return was “like a new signing for us”.

At Aston Villa, goalkeeper Tom Heaton will be available to give Emi Martinez competition between the sticks.

Which other key players are injured ahead of the weekend?

Gareth Bale is a doubt for Tottenham’s trip to Liverpool on Wednesday due to illness.

Carlo Ancelotti also confirmed that James Rodriguez and Seamus Coleman will not be involved for Everton for their fixture against Leicester on Wednesday.

West Ham will be without Michail Antonio and Arthur Masuaku. Antonio is recovering from a hamstring injury while Masuaku underwent knee surgery last week.
