Vikings push Seahawks to the brink, lose on last-minute drive: Discuss

The Vikings took it to the 4-0 Seahawks all night long, then just couldn’t hold on in the end.

Minnesota built a 13-0 lead Sunday on a phenomenal performance in the first half, controlling the ball on offense and stifling the prolific Seahawks offense, sacking Russell Wilson four times. But a second-half rally from Seattle culminated in a thrilling finish and a 27-26 Seahawks win.

After the Vikings’ solid first half, Seattle responded with an early flurry in the third quarter, scoring 21 points in the span of one minute, 46 seconds to take a 21-13 lead. Kirk Cousins led the Vikings back with consecutive touchdown drives to take a 26-21 lead (including a failed two-point conversion), but with a chance to ice the game deep in Seahawks territory in the final minutes, Minnesota opted to go for it on fourth-and-inches rather than kick a short field goal to go up by eight. Wilson marched the Seahawks down the field, twice completing fourth-down passes — including the game-winning touchdown to DK Metcalf.

If that wasn’t enough, the game ended when a Cousins pass appeared to fall incomplete but was ruled a fumble and upheld on review.

Whew. More to come later from Chad Graff. For now, sound off on the loss below.
