Introduction to ‘What’s Going On in This Graph?’
Want to learn more about this feature? Watch this short introduction video and start using New York Times graphs in your classroom.
Every week of the school year we share a different graph, map or chart from The New York Times and invite students to share what they notice and wonder about it. With our partners at the American Statistical Association, we host a live-moderated discussion about that graph every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Eastern. On Thursdays, we publish additional background information on the graph, followed by a new graph for the coming week.
Teachers tell us that this feature exposes students to a variety of graph types and concepts in math and statistics in a real-world context, and that it gives students a way in to analyze and understand the visual journalism produced by The New York Times.
