A jury that heard weeks of testimony about grisly slayings and necrophilia convicted Douglas Daniel Clark today of the murder of six women.

The jury of eight women and four men also convicted the 34-yearold former Burbank factory worker on one count each of attempted murder, mutilation of human remains and mayhem.

The jury will meet again Tuesday to deliberate on the defendant's sentence. Prosecutors have asked for the death penalty. In the four-month trial, jurors heard graphic testimony about how the six women were killed to satisfy the defendant's sexual desires. The victims had all frequented Sunset Boulevard nightspots and the slayings became known as the case of the ''Sunset Slayer.'' All the victims had been shot in the head at close range.

Carol Bundy, who shared the defendant's apartment and also faces murder charges, told of his bringing home a head and testified that he had told her he had committed 47 murders since he was 17 years old.
