ST. LOUIS, June 26 — Vice President Agnew defined “the virus of McGovernism” tonight as “the doctrine of retreat over seas and radicalism at home.” It is directly descended, he suggested, from the “ultra‐radi cal leftist line” of the Pro gressive party and its Presiden tial candidate of 1948, Henry A. Wallace.

In a speech prepared for de livery at a Republican fund raising dinner here, Mr. Agnew said it was not so important that Senator George McGovern was a delegate to the Progres sive convention in 1948. What interests him, Mr. Agnew said, is that “the passage of time has not cooled his ardor for the radicalism of the Henry Wal lace movement.”
