Activities. President Nixon was in Key Biscayne, Fla.
MAJOR POSITIONS
Justice. The President nominated Ralph E. Erickson to be Deputy Attorney General. He would succeed Richard G. Kleindienst, who is Attorney General.
CONGRESS
Floor Action
Delinquency. The Senate passed and sent to the House a bill extending the Federal
Government's juvenile delinquency control program for two more years. The bill provides grants to local government or nonprofit organizations for juvenile delinquency prevention and rehabilitation programs.
Cotton. The House completed Congressional action on a bill allowing monthly cotton reports to be released by the Agriculture Department at the same time as general crop reports.
Aid. The Senate voted to deny money for two overseas military base agreements unless the Administration submits them as treaties for Senate ratification. The bases are in Bahrain and the Azores.
Consumers. The House passed and sent to the. President a bill authorizing $500,000 to continue the work of the National Commission on Consumer Finance.
Veterans. The House approved a measure to raise monthly compensation payments to veterans with service‐connected disabilities by 10 per cent.
Bicentennial. The Houte rejected a bill to authorize continued funding of the American Revolution Bicentennial Commission.
