WASHINGTON, June 7 (UPI)—In a continuing program to make military life more like home, the Army disclosed today plans for a anew type of barracks that will eliminate the familiar buildings with row upon row of bunk beds.

The new design shows clusters of four rooms—each room housing one to three men—arrayed around a small lounge.

“The design provides increased personal privacy and comfort for the soldier,” the Army said.

The effort to improve the barracks is part of the Army's drive to attract enough volunteers to make it possible to eliminate the draft after June 30,. 1973.
