It was remarked long since, and the fact will play a considerable part in the coming election, that the city's debt was increasing faster than its population. It now appears that real estate values are receding with the increase of population. For the last three years the per capita valuation for purposes of taxation has fallen steadily for the entire city, from $1,577 to $1,548 and then to $1,519. View Full Article in Timesmachine »
