NEWPORT, R.I., March 27. -- The season for experiment and practice with torpedoes will probably be begun at the torpedo station April 1. Torpedo tubes for both Howells and Whiteheads are to be mounted on the wharf of the station, from which there is an excellent range of 1,800 yards. Practice will be conducted from land, as well as from the torpedo boats Stiletto and Cushing, heretofore exclusively used for this purpose. View Full Article in Timesmachine »
