Autoantibodies
Antibodies that react with self-antigens (AUTOANTIGENS) of the organism that produced them.
anti-small nuclear ribonucleoproteins autoantibodies [Supplementary Concept]
Date introduced: September 2, 2021
SS-A antibodies [Supplementary Concept]
Date introduced: September 17, 1982
anti-Ma autoantibodies [Supplementary Concept]
Date introduced: September 3, 2021
anti-CASPR2 autoantibody [Supplementary Concept]
Autoantibodies against contactin-associated protein-like 2 (CASPR2). Presence of anti-CASPR2 auto antibodies is associated with CORTICAL DYSPLASIA-FOCAL EPILEPSY SYNDROME.
Date introduced: August 20, 2021
Antibodies, Antineutrophil Cytoplasmic
Autoantibodies directed against cytoplasmic constituents of POLYMORPHONUCLEAR LEUKOCYTES and/or MONOCYTES. They are used as specific markers for GRANULOMATOSIS WITH POLYANGIITIS and other diseases, though their pathophysiological role is not clear. ANCA are routinely detected by indirect immunofluorescence with three different patterns: c-ANCA (cytoplasmic), p-ANCA (perinuclear), and atypical ANCA.
Year introduced: 1997
Immunoglobulins, Thyroid-Stimulating
Autoantibodies that bind to the thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) receptor (RECEPTORS, THYROTROPIN) on thyroid epithelial cells. The autoantibodies mimic TSH causing an unregulated production of thyroid hormones characteristic of GRAVES DISEASE.
Year introduced: 1995
Anti-Citrullinated Protein Antibodies
Autoantibodies to citrullinated-peptides and proteins.
Year introduced: 2018
Antibodies, Antiphospholipid
Autoantibodies directed against phospholipids. These antibodies are characteristically found in patients with certain autoimmune diseases (e.g., SYSTEMIC LUPUS ERYTHEMATOSUS and ANTIPHOSPHOLIPID SYNDROME), some non-autoimmune diseases, and also in healthy individuals.
Year introduced: 1993
anti-thyroid autoantibodies [Supplementary Concept]
anti-scl-70 autoantibodies [Supplementary Concept]
anti-RNA-polymerase III autoantibody [Supplementary Concept]
Antibodies, Anticardiolipin
Antiphospholipid antibodies found in association with systemic lupus erythematosus (LUPUS ERYTHEMATOSUS, SYSTEMIC;), ANTIPHOSPHOLIPID SYNDROME; and in a variety of other diseases as well as in healthy individuals. The antibodies are detected by solid-phase IMMUNOASSAY employing the purified phospholipid antigen CARDIOLIPIN.
Autoimmunity
Process whereby the immune system reacts against the body's own tissues. Autoimmunity may produce or be caused by AUTOIMMUNE DISEASES.
Year introduced: 1990
anti-citrullinated filaggrin autoantibodies [Supplementary Concept]
Date introduced: November 29, 2021

anti-aquaporin 4 autoantibody [Supplementary Concept]
anti-H3-H4 autoantibody [Supplementary Concept]
anti-dsDNA autoantibody [Supplementary Concept]
autoantibodies found in LUPUS ERYTHEMATOSUS, SYSTEMIC
