About Cricket Magazine

Cricket magazine is an award-winning literary magazine for young readers ages 9 to 14. First published in 1973, the magazine bills itself as "The New Yorker for children."

Each of Cricket's nine annual issues is filled with stories, poems, puzzles, and more designed to help kids discover and develop their imaginations. Original children's stories and classic literature for kids are featured from a variety of genres--fantasy, historical fiction, myths, legends, humor, adventure, contemporary fiction--plus a monthly art, story, or poetry contest. Well-known authors and illustrators have long contributed to the magazine's content over the years.

Some of Cricket's notable features include its notable cast of characters, which appear throughout the magazine. "Cricket," "Ladybug," and their friends, most of whom are also insects, interject commentary on various articles, sometimes by defining difficult words or drawing attention to unusual facts. Like other magazines published by The Cricket Magazine Group, Cricket accepts no advertising, so young readers can get lost in the magazine's imaginative stories without distraction.

Childhood memories

I remember reading Cricket magazine as a kid and I just LOVE it. I can't wait to order subscriptions for my nieces and nephews. I am sure they will adore it as much as I did.
