The daughter of a woman who died suddenly on holiday has spoken of her family’s shock.

Mother of four, Mary Browne from north Belfast was on a summer break with members of her family in Turkey when she died on Wednesday June 26.

She has been described as a “beloved wife, a loving mother and nanny and much loved daughter, sister and aunt”.

Her daughter Sarah told the Irish News that the family are still in shock at her sudden passing.

“It was just so unexpected,” she said.

“We arrived in Alanya on Sunday 23 June for a family holiday with my aunt and a few of the kids. A few days later mum was gone.”

She added that her mum will be deeply missed and was popular with friends and colleagues.

“She was the life of the party,” she said.

“Everyone just loved her. The girls she worked with in the school kitchen were so excited for her coming back and they always enjoyed working together. She was great with the children too slipping them seconds and making them laugh.

“She was a straight talker and would just tell you things as it was, people respected her for that. She’ll definitely be missed by everyone.”

Our Lady’s PS said Ms Browne’s death was “deeply regretted by the staff and community”.

The board of governors at Sacred Heart Boys’ PS, where Mary’s husband Robert works as a caretaker also offered condolences.

Ms Browne’s remains will leave her home at 144 Deerpark Road on Tuesday 2 July for 1pm mass in Sacred Heart Chapel.

Burial will follow at City Cemetery.
