Review: THE RETURN OF ELVIS DU PISANIE at Theatre On The BayJune 7, 2024It's always a pleasure to see a Paul Slabolepzy piece! I'm a huge fan. And THE RETURN OF ELVIS DU PISANIE does not disappoint in any way, shape or form. It is an extraordinary performance by Ashley Dowds and a story with pure heart from Slabolepzy.
Review: THE EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES is on tourMay 31, 2024I do love a fresh twist on a classic fairytale! And THE EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES from The Drama Factory definitely delivers. It's vibrant and fun, with laughs for young and old.
Review: I GOT RHYTHM from choreographer David Nixon CBEMay 21, 2024I GOT RHYTHM kicks off the season that marks 90 years of Cape Town City Ballet. And that is something that we should be truly proud of here in the cape. I was curious to see that CTCB went with something non-traditional for the start of this big season. I GOT RHYTHM celebrates the music of George Gershwin.
Review: AMADEUS at Theatre On The BayApril 28, 2024AMADEUS by Peter Shaffer is widely regarded as an absolute classic play from the 20th century. The words flow off the page with a rise and fall that can mimic great music - exactly what is needed to tell the story of the rivalry between Mozart and Salieri. What I loved most about this offering from Theatre on the Bay is the styling and how that pushed the musicality of the piece even more.
Review: MAMMA MIA is an ABBA-solutely fantastic time!April 1, 2024I am so glad I got to catch MAMMA MIA here in Cape Town. This cast is brilliant - you will have an ABBA-solutely fantastic time, you will want to get up and be the Dancing Queen, and you will certainly be saying 'thank you for the music' by the end of the show.
Review: LUNGS at Theatre On The Bay is Like a Runaway Train You Want to Be OnFebruary 17, 2024Duncan MacMillan’s play LUNGS has been described as 'off-kilter' and 'brutally honest' - and that's exactly what you get with this production. It races forward at a gallop as the pair on stage move through their relationship. There's an element of a runaway train to the pace, but it's a train I want to be on.

Review: DELELA is Cheeky and Disrespectful in The Best WaySeptember 12, 2023The word 'delela' means cheeky, rude, disrespectful or out of line - and I couldn't think of a more fitting title for this production and the subject matter. It's a brilliant piece of satire that points the finger and pokes fun at the world of vanity philanthropy.
