He previously reported on health and social services for the Star Tribune in Minneapolis. A veteran reporter, he has written extensively about society’s most vulnerable populations, including people with disabilities, the homeless and children who are survivors of abuse. His work is focused on holding public and private officials accountable, as well as the policies and business practices that prevent people from accessing life-saving care. Serres is a two-time finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for investigative projects on disability rights and juvenile justice. He is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and lives in Somerville, Mass. with his wife, Karolina, an early childhood educator.
