When Tina Brown hosted a dinner to benefit London’s Royal Court Theatre at her apartment the other night, it was Liam Neeson who stole the show. After Stephen Daldry, the theater’s director, made his case for donations before the small crowd — which included Lawrence Tisch, Brooke Astor, Mort and Linda Janklow, Carolyne Roehm, Norman Mailer, Frank Rich and Alex Witchel, Heidi and Rocco Landesman and Natasha Richardson — Neeson rose and stunned those in the room by pledging $75,000 to the theater even though, he said, he was once turned down there for a job.
n The CFDA Awards on Feb. 7 should be a blockbuster evening. The council has already sold out 750 $1,000-a-plate tickets and has added 100 more seats for the dinner.
