I researched quite a bit before purchasing a knife set and finally settled on Wüsthof ®. What I quickly realized that there are multiple tiers of knifes by Wüsthof ®. After further research I realized that the Ikon sub brand was the best for me. I first purchase the
Wusthof Classic Ikon 7-Piece Walnut Block Knife Set, Black
t to get me started. After 3 months I was ready to turn my old steak knives in and upgrade to the Wüsthof ® Ikon line. They are quite a bit more than the regular Classic line of knives, but in my opinion worth the investment. They look premium and are noticeably higher end then the classic line. The Wüsthof ® logo is inlayed into the knife rather than an added sticker like the Classic line.
Wüsthof ® Classic Ikon knives are constructed with one piece of stainless steal so you don't have to worry about the durability of the knife. The handle fits perfectly in your hand and helps you to cut with ease. The weight of the knife is excellent - not too light but also not too heavy. These knives are incredibly sharp and will slice into steak, veggies etc with ease.
The overall packaging is unimpressive for $300+ steak knives but I guess you are going to throw away anyways. All and all I would highly recommend the investment.
