In a new tweet, “Confident” pop singer Demi Lovato has shared that she’s looking forward to the year ahead—but not because of a new album or concert tour. Instead, she said she’s expecting to take some time off from her life in the public eye, noting that she doesn’t see herself as “meant” for the music business (and ensuing media scrutiny) going forward.
And in response to one fan, who called it “heartbreaking” to see her stepping away, Lovato said it just “doesn’t feel worth it” and charity work might be in her future instead.
Lovato has previously spoken openly about battles with bulimia, depression, and substance abuse. She recently concluded her performances for the this summer’s “Future Now” tour with Nick Jonas, during which she quit social media briefly in June after facing backlash after some of her comments about fellow celebrities.
